SwingFIT Academies · How players use their credits and when they buy again · 10 Sep 2025 to 30 Sep 2026

Players who use their credits come back.

What happens after someone buys lessons or practice time: do they use it before it expires, and do they buy again? Built from every credit bought and used in GolfManager since it went live (15,318 transactions), checked against every coaching booking (6,795).

The short version

What the data says

1

Players who use every lesson are about twice as likely to buy again as players who let lessons expire.

2

Most packs get used. 7 in 10 beginner packs and half of regular golfers' packs have every lesson used. Packs that expire are usually one to three lessons short; very few are never started.

3

Rhythm decides it. Beginners who have a lesson every week use every lesson 85% of the time; with gaps of more than two weeks, 33%.

4

The second purchase is the hardest: 1 in 4 players buys coaching a second time, and only 1 in 8 regular golfers do. Those who buy again mostly buy coaching or practice; after their first purchase, about 1 in 5 of those who buy again joins as a member instead.

5

Beginners who practise between lessons use every lesson 94% of the time, against 61% for those who don't.

6

Standard members use 44% of the lessons included in their membership. Beginner members use 67%.

Words used on this page

Pack: a bundle of 4, 8, 12 or 24 lessons or practice hours bought in one go. Single: one lesson or one practice session bought on its own.

Beginner vs regular golfer: based on the product bought. Beginner = Beginner Golf Lessons, Learn to Swing and Learn to Play. Regular golfer = everyone else taking lessons: Golf Coaching Lessons and Head Coach packs. "Regular" here means "not a beginner", not "all players".

Expiry date: the date the pack stops working in GolfManager, including any extension. Usually 60 days for 4 lessons, 120 days for 8, 120 (beginner) or 180 (regular golfer) for 12, and 30 to 60 days for a single.

Used: a lesson charged to the pack in GolfManager. A late cancellation that keeps the credit counts as used, because the credit is gone.

Closed pack: a pack that is finished, either because every lesson was used or because it passed its expiry date. Most numbers only count closed packs. Packs still running are left out, because their players still have time.

Bought again: the player made any later purchase: more coaching, practice time, or a membership.

Member or not: decided by whether the player held a valid monthly member credit in GolfManager at the time of the purchase (from its issue date to its GolfManager expiry date). Sections 1 to 5 and 7 cover purchases made as a non-member (pay-as-you-go). Members' included monthly lessons are in section 6.

Typical: the middle value (median), so a few extreme players don't skew it.

1 · Coaching packs

Beginners vs regular golfers

In short: beginners use more of their packs: 7 in 10 have every lesson used. Regular golfers use every lesson in half their packs. In both groups, players who use every lesson are much more likely to buy again.

What happened to each purchase

How to read it: each column is one product. Example: 283 beginner packs were bought, 209 are closed, and 69% of those closed packs had every lesson used.

"0 days to first lesson" means the first lesson was on the day of purchase: many players buy the pack at, or straight after, their first lesson. The three "…" rows are each a % of all closed packs; they can add up to more than "bought again" because some players bought more than one kind of thing. Single lessons are mostly bought after an evaluation or as a one-off top-up.

Using every lesson changes what they buy next

Using every lesson roughly doubles the chance of buying more coaching. For regular golfers, joining as a member is about as likely either way (about 1 in 10).

Bigger packs are less often used to the last lesson, but around 8 in 10 of their lessons still get used. Regular golfers' 12-lesson packs lead to the fewest repeat purchases (23%). Beginner 8 and 24-lesson packs are too few to show (7 and 6 closed).

2 · Before the expiry date

How a pack gets used, and how it ends

In short: most packs are used up before they expire. A beginner 4-lesson pack (valid 60 days) is 60% used after four weeks and 83% used by the expiry date. Packs that expire usually have one to three lessons left; very few are never started.

How packs end

Closed packs only, by product and size

How to read it: the three % columns add up to 100%. Example: of 150 closed beginner 4-packs, 70% had every lesson used, 26% expired after some lessons, and 4% expired without a single lesson. "Lessons lost" adds up the lessons left on the expired ones.

Not shown because too few have closed: beginner 8 and 24-packs, and practice 8 and 12-packs (most still running). Some single purchases carry more than one credit, which is why their lesson totals are higher than the number of purchases.

Week by week, up to the expiry date

Grey cells are after that pack has usually expired, so no more lessons can be used

How to read it: pick a row and read left to right. Example: two weeks after buying, beginners have used 43% of the lessons in a 4-pack; by week 8 it is 76%; at the expiry date, 83%. The last block shows how many have bought something else by then, which can still happen after the pack expires.

Each week column only counts packs bought at least that many weeks ago, so a pack bought last week is not in the week 8 column. That is why a later column can occasionally be a little lower. "At expiry" only counts closed packs. Regular golfer 12-packs are a small group (21 to 26 packs).

The last two weeks

Closed packs, looked at two weeks before their expiry date

How to read it: of 196 closed beginner packs, 91 (46%) still had lessons on them two weeks before expiry. 40 of those 91 players booked at least one more lesson before the date.

There is no last-minute rush: only 4 to 7% of all lessons are used in a pack's last two weeks. More than half of the players with lessons left at that point let them expire.

3 · What helps players use every lesson

Start fast, play weekly

In short: the sooner the first lesson, and the more regularly lessons follow, the more likely every lesson gets used. Beginners who have a lesson every week use every lesson 85% of the time; with gaps of more than two weeks, 33%.

Players drop off after lesson 1, 2 or 3 in similar numbers; few never start. A weekly slot booked at the point of sale, and a check-in after lesson 2, would catch most of them.

4 · Second, third and fourth purchases

How far do players climb?

In short: getting a player to buy a second time is the hardest step: 1 in 4 do it for coaching, and only 1 in 8 regular golfers. Practice buyers come back the most. Few players move to a membership at this point: about 1 in 10 after their first purchase, fewer after that.

How to read it: each row follows one group of players and counts how many made each next purchase. Example, first row: 353 players bought coaching at least once (at least 60 days ago), and 85 of them (24%) bought coaching a second time. Of the 69 who had bought twice, 21 (30%) bought a third time.

What they buy next: coaching, practice or a membership?

Every non-member purchase at least 60 days old, and the very next thing the same player bought

How to read it: each row is one step. Example, first block: 494 players made a first purchase. Next, 85 bought coaching, 68 bought practice, 44 (9%) joined as a member, and 297 have not bought anything yet. The last column only looks at players who bought something: of the 197 who did, 22% chose a membership.

The chance of moving to a membership gets smaller with each purchase: 9% after the first, 7% after the second, 5% after the third. Players who keep buying tend to stay pay-as-you-go. Regular golfers who come back are the likeliest to choose a membership (12 of the 42 who bought again after their first purchase). Groups are by what the player bought first. Small groups (under 20) are shown as counts.

Time between purchases

A coaching buyer who comes back typically does so about seven weeks later: 50 days between the 1st and 2nd purchase, 48 between the 2nd and 3rd. Beginners come back sooner (about 41 days) than regular golfers (about 100 days).

The longer view

Zoho Books goes back to Sep 2023 and shows the same pattern for all coaching purchases (packs, credit top-ups and single lessons): 34% buy a 2nd time, then 41% a 3rd, 47% a 4th and 54% a 5th (each step counted once that purchase is 60+ days old, as on the Coach Funnel page). Each purchase makes the next one more likely. The GolfManager numbers above cover one year only, so the later steps are small groups.

The rows overlap: "All coaching" includes everyone in the beginner and regular golfer rows. Beginner (224) plus regular golfer (138) is more than 353 because 9 players bought both kinds. A player only counts once their previous purchase is at least 60 days old, so they have had time to come back. "First" means first in GolfManager (from Sep 2025), so some had bought before that. Purchases made within two hours of each other (for example the coaching and practice credits in a Learn to Swing pack) count as one purchase. Memberships are not counted in this table; see the next one.

5 · Practice credits

Practice and coaching together

In short: people who buy practice time mostly buy more practice; only 1 in 8 goes on to buy coaching. Beginners who practise between lessons use every lesson far more often.

6 · Members

Members' monthly lessons

In short: memberships include lessons each month. Beginner and junior members use about two thirds of theirs. Standard members use 44%. In the last three months, 46% of standard members didn't use their included lesson at all.

How to read it: lessons included in each membership from Jan to Sep 2026, and how many were used before they ran out. Example: 248 standard members were given 1,449 lessons in that time and used 637 (44%).

"Used" counts lessons charged to the member's monthly credit, plus lessons booked as free member lessons while that credit was valid. Until June many member lessons were booked as "Member Coaching" without touching the credit, so counting credits alone would undercount. Each monthly credit runs from the day GolfManager issues it to its GolfManager expiry date; when the membership renews, a new credit is issued and the old one expires. Last three months = July to September 2026 (232 members, 171 of them standard; 79 standard members used no included lesson). Members' practice bookings don't use credits, so they aren't in this table.

7 · Paid but unused

Credits that expired

In short: non-members paid about AED 0.38M in the year for lessons and practice time they never used. The money is already collected, but these players are less likely to buy again.

Coaching values use the per-lesson price the player actually paid for that pack (from the booking each credit was used on). Practice and fitness use the list price per session, so those two rows are approximate.

8 · By lesson coach

How each coach's packs were used

How to read this: each pack is put under the coach who taught most of its lessons, taken from the booking each credit was used on. Only closed packs count. The numbers are small, so use them to start a conversation, not to compare coaches. About one in five packs had no lesson linked to a coach and is left out.

Henry started in August: 12 of his beginner packs are still running, so none have closed yet. Packs taught mostly by coaches who have since left are not shown. "Lessons used" counts every lesson on the pack, including any taught by another coach.

What this means

Where to act

1

Get players through their lessons; the next sale follows. Beginners who use every lesson buy again 47% of the time; those who let lessons expire, 22%. For regular golfers it is 43% against 25%.

2

Set the rhythm at the point of sale. Beginners with a weekly lesson use every lesson 85% of the time; with gaps of more than two weeks, 33%. Booking lesson 1 and a weekly slot before the player leaves the desk is the simplest lever.

3

Work back from the expiry date. Two weeks before expiry, about half of beginner packs and two thirds of regular golfer packs still have lessons on them, and most of those players let them lapse. A reminder at that point is cheap.

4

Win the second purchase, especially for regular golfers. 1 in 4 players buys coaching a second time, but only 1 in 8 regular golfers do. The last lesson of the first pack is the moment to ask. Regular golfers who do come back are the likeliest to choose a membership (29% of them after the first purchase).

5

Pair coaching with practice for beginners. Beginners who practise between lessons use every lesson 94% of the time, against 61%. A practice credit bundled into beginner packs is a cheap test.

6

Get standard members using their included lesson. They use 44% of them, and 46% of standard members used none in the last three months. Members who don't use what they pay for are the likeliest to cancel. A monthly nudge to book, owned by Member Success, is worth testing.

7

Turn practice buyers into coaching clients. Only 1 in 8 practice buyers goes on to buy coaching today. A first-lesson offer to regular practice customers is an untapped route in.

Method

How these numbers were built

Source: every GolfManager credit transaction (swingfit tenant) from 10 Sep 2025 to 1 Oct 2026: 15,318 transactions on 5,655 vouchers. For every voucher, the transactions add up exactly to the balance GolfManager shows. Every coaching and evaluation booking in the same period (6,795, cancellations excluded) was pulled to link lessons to coaches and prices. Memberships come from GolfManager monthly member credits (issue and expiry dates), with Zoho Books invoices for the months before members moved to GolfManager (before 9 Dec 2025) and for practice-only memberships. Pulled 1 Oct 2026.

Purchases: each top-up is one purchase. 65 purchases that staff cancelled or reversed (duplicates, wrong price, moved to another profile) are removed, and partial corrections reduce the pack size. Staff and test accounts are excluded. A purchase counts as a member purchase if the player held a valid member credit at that moment (from issue to its GolfManager expiry date; before 9 Dec 2025, 31 days from a membership invoice). Member purchases are left out of the non-member sections. Beginner vs regular golfer comes from the product name, which the selling coach chooses.

Use: each lesson is counted on the voucher GolfManager actually charged, in the order the charges were made. Credits handed back on cancellation are netted off; late cancellations that keep the credit count as used.

Expiry: each pack's end date is read from its GolfManager voucher, so extensions are included.

Week-by-week: for each week mark, only packs bought at least that many weeks ago are counted, and lessons used up to that mark are compared with the pack size. Week marks after a pack type's usual expiry are left out.

Second, third, fourth purchases: purchases are numbered in date order per player within each kind (coaching or practice). A step is counted only when the earlier purchase is at least 60 days old. Purchases within two hours of each other count as one. "Joined as a member" in the next-purchase table means the first member credit issued after that purchase, if it came before any other purchase.

Checked by hand: 14 closed coaching packs expired with lessons left while the same player had a lesson booked as "Not paid" (or draft) in the pack's window, never charged to any credit. Max checked all 27 bookings in GolfManager and confirmed the lessons took place, so they are counted as used on those packs (26 lessons; one booking had no credit left to use). Known gaps: 43 lessons were paid directly at booking rather than with a credit and are not counted as purchases. Small groups (per coach, some pack sizes, later purchase steps) are directional. "Practised during" shows correlation, not cause.

Corrections in this version (1 Oct 2026): an earlier version of this page was built on an incomplete pull that missed about 900 transactions, matched lessons to packs by lesson date instead of charge order, counted reversed purchases, counted members' lessons from credits only, and (until this version) decided member status from invoices rather than GolfManager credit expiry dates. Those errors made packs look much less used than they are (e.g. 40% instead of 69% of beginner packs fully used) and members' use lower (30% instead of 44% for standard members). All numbers on this page are rebuilt from the corrected data.
